Baby Boom in League City
Posted In: Commercial | League City News Posted by James Brockway on 08/22/2012

Yesterday while driving east on Highway 96 approaching Highway 270, I glanced at the building pad under construction next to CVS. The forms and rebar were laid out and the slab was ready to be poured. Before long another children’s day care will be springing out of the ground. This particular one, Children’s Learning Adventure, provides infant, preschool and after school programs for children from six weeks to twelve years old. I continued two miles up the road to Kiddie Academy, next to Tuscan Lakes, which also offers programs for infants to after school programs for older kids. Additionally, next door to Kiddie Academy, their sister school, Creative Explorers, is up and running. Had I gone in any direction from where I started, I would have come across a multitude of other children’s day schools, be they Kids R Kids, La Petite Academy or other similar school. The reason for this? Well, had you lived in League City in 2000, you would have been one of 45,444 people; the latest census taken in 2010 boasted 83,560 people and growing. League City has grown dramatically over the years but continues to be a community where families like to settle and raise their children. It’s no surprise that League City was voted one of the top 100 cities to live in in the United States back in 2006, according to Money Magazine. And by the way, we’re pretty smart here too, as evidenced by The Business Journals on Numbers rankings released in 2011 that listed League City as one of the top 100 smartest cities in the U.S.
