The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo begins February 25 and runs through March 17, 2013.  Before the festivities begin at Reliant Park in Houston, trail riders begin their journey from many different directions to converge in Memorial Park on February 22nd.

The Texas Independence Trail Ride travels through the Bay Area on February 19th and will camp overnight at the Johnson Space Center, 1601 NASA Parkway, Houston. Watching the trail riders come through the area is always a treat for young and old alike.  Seeing the mix of modern day vehicles alongside horses and covered wagons pulled by either horses or mules is a truly a sight to remind us of the history of Texas.

Texas Independence Trail Riders Schedule - Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013 • Leave Alvin Youth Arena at front gate
• Break - corner of FM 528 and Lundy Lane

• Overnight Camp - Johnson Space Center (1601 Nasa Road 1)

(Daily Distance: 14 Miles)

The NASA, Clear Creek, Friendswood, Houston Metro Go Texas Committee will host a Trail Riders Dinner and Dance, Feb 19th, at the Gilruth Center, located at 2101 East NASA Parkway, Houston.  Musical entertainment will be provided by Patrick Murphy and Murphy’s Law, dinner will be served, and a silent and live auction will be held. The evening begins at 7pm; ticket prices are $25 per person or $250 for a table of ten.  For more information or tickets, contact Elizabeth Taylor: 832-769-1348 or email her at: Chiquita@wiredin.cc .
