51st Annual Christmas Boat Lane Parade – December 8
Posted In: Clear Lake News | Events & Attractions | League City News Posted by Pam Moore on 12/07/2012

The City of League City joins the Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce to host a Bay Area tradition, the Annual Christmas Boat Lane Parade. 2012 marks the 50th anniversary of the Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce, the 50th anniversary of the incorporation of City of League City, and this year is the 51th Christmas Boat Lane Parade. The parade features more than 100 holiday decorated power and sail boats, and maybe even a few kayaks. The parade route will follow the Clear Lake Channel from the South Shore Harbour Marina and the Nassau Bay Lagoon out to Galveston Bay.

Thousands of people find special spots all along Clear Lake, the channel, and Kemah to view the festive boats as they file past to the bay. This year the Texas Navy Association’s new Sam Houston Squadron will lead the parade. The Texas Navy is a nonprofit organization devoted to preserving the history of the three Navies of Texas and is headquartered in Galveston. The squadron will also present an award for the “most patriotic” display.

Be in your best viewing location when the boats begin their procession on Saturday, December 8th, at 6 pm. A local tradition continues to grow ever since the first boat parade was held in 1961 with only five boats participating!
