Final Swan Song for the Astrodome?

As Click2Houston.com reported yesterday, the Astrodome’s final days could be numbered.  Some of the outside of the Dome has started being demolished, but a final say on its fate will await a November election.  For information on this historic happening, check out Click2Houston's story.

League City’s Butler Longhorn Museum Hosts Summer Program for Kids

Butler Longhorn Museum, 1220 Coryell St., will be hosting Bricks 4 Kids, a children’s hands-on program from June 10 through July 28th. Bricks 4 Kidz provides an atmosphere for children to learn, build and play with LEGO© Bricks. The model plans are designed by engineers and architects and offer themes like space, construction, and amusement parks. The project kits provide building blocks to educational play. Most of the 4-day classes are for children aged 6+, one class is for ages 10+.

2013 Hurricane Awareness Workshop – June 1st at George R. Brown, Houston

The annual Houston/Galveston National Weather Service Hurricane Workshop aims to prepare Harris and Galveston County residents for hurricane season through presentations, interactive exhibits, a “Kids Zone”, hurricane forecasting and more.

This free event held at the George R. Brown Convention Center, 1001 Avenida de las Americas, Houston, is family-friendly and open to the public. The workshop is the largest of its kind in the nation with more than 2,500 attendees each year.

This event is hosted by the National Weather Service, underwritten by CenterPoint Energy and supported by The City of Houston. The tentative schedule and more information can be found on the events website.

Houston Keeps on Growing

For the second year in a row, Harris County had the largest population growth of any county in the U.S. Spurred by the energy sector, Houston’s economy continues its strong growth as 80,000 new people became residents in Harris County from July 1, 2011 to July 1, 2012. The Houston MSA, which includes the robust economies of The Woodlands and Sugarland saw a population increase of 125,185, second only to the Dallas/Ft. Worth MSA increase.
