League City Council Approves Construction of New Pool
Posted In: League City News | Residential Posted by Pam Moore on 02/14/2014

League City has experienced plenty of growth since the municipal city pool was built. Now the City Council has approved construction of the $2.76 million pool at Hometown Heroes Park. The approval was made at the council meeting held on December 17, 2013.

On October 23, 2012, Brockway Realty blogged: “After 3 Years of Waiting, League City’s Eastern Regional Park Opens October 22nd | Brockway Realty Blog”; Eastern Regional Park was then renamed “Hometown Heroes Park” in October 2013. Below are the plans that were published in 2012 that show the proposed pool location at the park located at 2105 Dickinson Avenue.
League City New Pool Construction
Local area club and competitive swimming teams are happy to hear League City Parks and Recreation Director, Chien Wei, say that construction of the new pool should begin in January 2014; possible pool opening, July 2014.

Welcome to Texas!
Posted In: Residential Posted by James Brockway on 12/19/2012

As reported by the National Association of Realtors in their December 11, 2012 Daily Real Estate News article, home owners migrating across the U.S is on the rise again, compared to 2011, and movement from California to Texas is the second largest city to city move for migrators.  In 2012, just under 59,000 homeowners moved from California to Texas, just shy of the 59,288 movers from New York to Florida.  While the latter move is not a surprise as New Yorkers have long loved retiring to the sunny climate of Florida, what could be driving the move from California to Texas?  Well, maybe it’s because Texas is one of only seven states without an income tax.  Or, maybe it’s because of the boom in the oil and gas market as oil companies are drilling in the “Eagle Ford Shale” area of south Texas creating thousands of jobs.  Perhaps it’s that you can get more home for your money.

Whatever the reason, welcome to Texas!

Do you remember when…
Posted In: Residential Posted by James Brockway on 08/13/2012

Five years ago, 30 year mortgage interest rates averaged about 6%;  today, they are below 3.75%.  So, today if you were to get a $200,000, 30 year loan, you would pay $926.23 per month (not counting tax and insurance escrows that your lender may require). Five years ago, you would have paid $1,199.10 for the same loan-a $272.87 monthly savings!

When your parents bought their house in 1980, they would have paid 15% interest, so that same $200,000 loan would have cost them $2,528.89 per month!

We are living in an incredible interest rate era; it is hard to believe rates will ever be this low again.
