Clear Creek Independent School District was formed in 1948 when the districts of Kemah, League City, Seabrook and Webster were consolidated. The name derives from nearby Clear Creek, which forms Clear Lake, one of the few natural lakes in Texas. Clear Creek ISD is the 29th largest school district in Texas out of 1,031 districts. The district spans 103 square miles, 13 municipalities and two counties (Harris and Galveston). CCISD is governed by a high performing Board of Trustees, seven elected community members representing areas of the district. CCISD is proud of involving their stakeholders in making curriculumfinance, and policy decisions, and all of their decisions are made with the best interest of children in mind.

There are currently 26 elementary schools (Pre-K to grade 5), 10 intermediate schools (grades 6-8) and 7 high schools (grades 9-12) in CCISD. Of the seven high schools, three are alternative schools.  School zoning by location (subdivision, etc.) has changed over the years due to new campuses opening and the growing number of students enrolled.

The newest elementary, intermediate and high school opened in The Education Village; a 144 acre complex, located in east League City just south of the League City Parkway (Hwy 96). The elementary school opened in the fall of 2009; the intermediate and high schools opened in the fall of 2010. This K-12 complex has been ranked among the top 10 construction projects in Texas and is the only one of its kind in the State.

CCISD puts the “public” in public education through the encouragement of parental and community involvement. Clear Creek ISD is home to a robust Parent Teacher Association (PTA) and the Clear Creek Education Foundation. Both 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations provide financial support for enrichment programs and more importantly, harness the volunteer spirit that transcends the Clear Lake area.
